Robin Hiller is the founder and executive director of Voices for Education. She founded Voices in 1998 as a way to organize parents to be advocates for public education. Voices for Education works to strengthen and improve public education, fight the privatization of public schools through vouchers and for-profit charters, and advocate for strong, fully-funded neighborhood schools with a curriculum that is engaging, relevant and rigorous. From 2013 to 2016, she was the executive director of Network for Public Education, a national advocacy group headed by Diane Ravitch. Ms Hiller has been a community organizer for the past 30 years and worked on over 20 political campaigns.
Alison Porter has worked on a number of grassroots political campaigns, starting with the unprecedented, successful recall of Russell Pearce in 2011, and more recently helping to elect education-focused candidates Sean Bowie and Mitzi Epstein in Legislative District 18. She serves on the board of LD18 Democrats and works to assist other districts in adopting practices that have led to record-breaking civic engagement. Alison believes that grassroots organizing is the cornerstone of preserving our democracy for future generations, and that every child has a right to a strong public education.
